Zusammenfassung:Sediment cores sampled at four sites in Lake Ketel, a dynamic sedimentation basin of the River Rhine in the Netherlands, were analyzed for solid-phase trace metal and acid volatile sulfides. The internal cycling of solids in the lake affects trace metal and sulfide distribution in sediments. A comparison of vertical profiles for these species indicates substantial spatial variation in the dynamics of sediment transport. Construction of a dredge spoil storage depot in 1996 has strongly influenced the hydrodynamic and sediment dynamics in the lake.
