A BIOLOGICAL ASSAY FOR THIAMINE IN SEA WATER 1

A non-filamentous marine phycomycete, isolate S-3, responds in a quantitative and specific manner to the presence of thiamine. This fungus has been used to assay for thiamine in sea water. The assay is sensitive to 25 mu mu g/ml thiamine.
