Zusammenfassung:Pulsed dual beam thermal lens method is utilized to determine the thermal diffusivity of sea water. A frequency doubled Q-switched Nd : YAG laser is used as the heating source and an intensity stabilized He–Ne laser to probe the transient thermal lens signal decay. The thermal diffusivity values of the sea water are found to vary with the salinity of seawater.
