Zusammenfassung:Ghost fishing is an unwanted fishing situation which arises from the continued fishing by set nets and fish traps lost in marine and freshwater bodies. This study was carried out to investigate the lost net problem, its reasons and the lost net density in Izmir Bay (Turkey). A questiannaire has been designed for the fishermen using set nets and the heads of fishery cooperatives in Izmir Bay. According to the questionnaire, it was estimated that approximately 200-280 km set nets have been lost due to various reasons in Izmir Bay during the year of 2002.Original Abstract: Hayalet avcilik; deniz ve ic sularda cesitli nedenlerden dolayi kaybolan, uzatma aglari ve balik tuzaklari gibi av araclarinin avciliga devam etmesi sonucunda ortaya cikan istenmeyen balikcilik durumudur. Bu calisma, Izmir Korfezi'nde kayip ag problemi, nedenleri ve kayip ag yogunlugunun oldugu bolgeleri belirlemek amaciyla gerceklestirilmistir. Bu amacla, bolgede faaliyet gosteren balikcilar ve balikci kooperatifi baskanlari ile anket yapilmistir. Anket sonuclarina gore, Izmir Korfezi'nde 2002 yilinda yaklasik olarak 200-280 km. uzatma aginin cesitli nedenlerden dolayi kayboldugu tahmin edilmistir.
