The phenomenon of the deep focus earthquake of May 24, 2013, in the Sea of Okhotsk (Mw = 8.3)
The Sea of Okhotsk earthquake was a unique event in the history of seismological observations. Zusammenfassung: | The Sea of Okhotsk earthquake was a unique event in the history of seismological observations. First of all, we note the enormous energy (1.8 1017 J) released during this earthquake at a depth of 630 km. In the last 20 years, it is the second major deep focus earthquake similar to the Bolivian event of June 9, 1994 (w = 8.3, h = 630 km). The earthquake in the Sea of Okhotsk caused notable impacts with MSK 64 scale intensity up to 2 units within a radius of 9500 km around the epicenter, while the maximum shocks were up to 5 6 units in a radius up to 500 km. |
