First U-Pb datings of detrital zircons from middle and upper paleozoic sandstones of the Polar Urals: Testing the regional tectonic models

Zusammenfassung:In the past decade, many methods of UPb isotopic system examination for volumes of local material have been developed (TIMS, SIMS, SHRIMP, LA ICP MS), giving the opportunity for massive dating of detrital zircons (hereinafter, dZr for brevity) extracted from terrigenous rocks (see [1] and references therein). This allows researchers to test paleotectonic reconstructions because the age spectra of dZr from sedimentary rocks reflect the ages of complexes com posing the feeding provinces (i.e., the areas whose erosion formed these rocks; see [212] and others). In this work, on the basis of the first datings of dZr from four Middle and Upper Paleozoic strata typical for the western Polar Urals, the tectonic evolution is tested and specified in part for the Uralides in the Polar part of the Uralian overlapped folded belt (see [13] and references therein) and PreUralides Timanides (see[11] and references therein) composing the basement of the Paleozoides of the Western Urals.
