The extreme flood in the don river delta, March 23–24, 2013, and determining factors

A study investigated the extreme flood in the Don River Delta that occurred on Mar 23-24, 2013 and examined the determining factors responsible for it. Analysis of the hydrological observations of water level variations on the coast of the Gulf of Taganrog, as well as the character of flooding in the Don avant delta over many decades, indicated that extreme surges induce the rise of water from the Sea of Azov by up to 2.52.8 m, or, with a height of the base of Cossack houses taken into account, up to 3 m.
