Zusammenfassung:A facile one-pot, four-component reaction for the synthesis of pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinolines is described. Knoevenagel condensation reaction of malononitrile and aromatic aldehydes gave 2-arylmethylidenemalononitriles which on treatment with quinoline and cyclohexyl isocyanide under solvent-free conditions afforded 1-(cyclohexylamino)-2-arylpyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoline-3-carbonitriles in good yields.
