Zusammenfassung: | In this study, the selectivity of bottom longline used for greater forkbeard (Phycis blennoides Brunnich, 1768) fishing in Saros Bay (Turkey) and the relationship between lengths of caught fish and mouth opening (horizontal mouth opening 'YAC', vertical mouth opening 'DAC') was investigated. The SELECT method was used in the determination of the selectivity parameters. Throughout the study, in total 20 fishing operations were carried out and 99 samples were caught by using 4000 hooks. Depending on the size of hooks, 37 fish were caught by hook number 7. The relationship of length-DAC (R super(2)=0,711) and the relationship of length-YAC (R super(2)=0,808) for greater forkbeard were determined. Selectivity parameters for optimum catching lengths (OYB) were found 48,45 cm for hook number 6; 41,49 cm for hook number 7; 37,44 cm for hook number 8; 32,35 cm for hook number 9, respectively. |
