Understanding their mechanisms requires assays that can monitor the kinetics or chromatin remodeling. In this chapter, we describe complimentary native gel-based and FRET-based methods for assaying the kinetics of ATP-driven nucleosome sliding. These methods can be readily adapted to investigate other types of nucleosomal transformations carried out by chromatin remodeling ATPases. |
