Polarization behavior of polystyrene particles under direct current and low-frequency (<1 kHz) electric fields in dielectrophoretic systems

Electrophoresis 2016, 37, 635–644. DOI: 10.1002/elps.201500338 The relative polarization behavior of micron and sub‐micron polystyrene particles was investigated under direct current (DC) and low frequency ( 500 nm) exhibit negative DEP at lower frequencies (20–200 Hz) as illustrated by particle dep...

Zusammenfassung:Electrophoresis 2016, 37, 635–644. DOI: 10.1002/elps.201500338 The relative polarization behavior of micron and sub‐micron polystyrene particles was investigated under direct current (DC) and low frequency ( 500 nm) exhibit negative DEP at lower frequencies (20–200 Hz) as illustrated by particle depletion at the constrictions between the posts (right image). These differences in relative polarization responses can be exploited for the design of iDEP‐based separations and analysis of particle mixtures.
