Zusammenfassung: | A population of H. limbata was studied from 23 Jan through 18 Sept, 1971. in a pond (6134m Super(3)) located 3km southeast of Oxford, Ohio (Butler County).Nymphs inhabited each of 7 different substrates in the pond. Average population abundance during the study period was 2.15g dry wt/m Super(2), and average biomass was 473 individuals/m Super(2), and average biomass was 2.15g dry wt/m Super(2). Nymphal distribution was influenced by substrate type, DO conc, prevailing winds, and water level. Most nymphs in this ecosystem appear to have a 2-yr life cycle; however, those which hatch from eggs Iaid early in the emergence period may mature in a single yr. |
