New antibacterial bromoindole metabolites from the marine sponge Polyfibrospongia maynardii
The aqueous ethanol extract of the sponge Polyfibro-spongia maynardii (Hyatt) yielded 2 new dibromo antibacterial compounds 1 and 2. From spectroscopic examination, compound 1 was found to be a dibromo-aminoalkyl substituted indole and compound 2, a 3-(2- amino ethyl) 5, 6-dibromo indole.
