Zusammenfassung: | Histone III of the testes of the cysteine found in calf thymus histone III. Examination of the cyanogen bromide peptides, as well as peptides derived by tryptic, chymotryptic, or thermolysin hydrolysis, revealed no other differences in amino acid composition. Thus histone III shows a highly conserved sequence from fish to calf, there being a difference of only 1 residue in the 135 of the protein. As in the case of calf thymus histone III, there are 2 specific sites of methylation of epsilon -amino groups of lysine residues. Each site contains, one, 2 or 3 methyl groups. |
