Zusammenfassung:The fertilization and growth of eggs and larvae of Mytilus edulis L. were studied under the influence of an important ingredient in washing powders, linear dodecylbenzenesulphonate (LAS). Observable effects occurred in concentrations as low as 0.05 ppm. The length attained by the larvae was affected even by concentrations of 0.1 ppm. The possible ecological consequences of these effects are discussed.
