Zusammenfassung: | Juvenile (34-50 mm SL) Apogon guadalupensis were observed in 1967-68 for the first time off the southeastern shore of San Clemente Island. Size data indicated that the fish were probably recent immigrants having arrived as a school of pelagic larvae. In 1971, the only Apogon guadalupensis sighted was a solitary, immense (100 mm SL) adult, which was regarded as a survivor from the group of juveniles reported three years earlier. There was no evidence that the cardinal fish and San Clemente produced young, which became established there. |
