Zusammenfassung:During natural-gas refining, radionuclides that may be present at low concentrations initially may become concentrated. At a local incinerator power plant fired by natural gas derived from a gas-recovery system of a municipal landfill located in the middle Miocene Topanga Formation in California, gas samples were collected from the combustion stream, and concentrations of radon were measured. The Rn concentrations, which ranged 276 471 pCi/l, significantly exceeded the residential action limit of 4 pCi/l.
