Zusammenfassung:Background: Evaluate occurrence of uveitis and KCS in patients with HAM/TSP and blood donors (BD) with positive, indeterminate and negative results for HTLV-1. Methods: Complete eye exam, including lacrimal film was performed in 419 BD and 55 HAM/TSP patients. Peripheral blood lymphocytes were immunophenotyped (T, B, T/B, NK, CD4DR, CD8DR). Results: Mean age was 35.5 years (18-61) for BD and 54.2 years (26-87) in the group of HAM/TSP. The majority of BD were males (246/419 - 58.7%) and 173 (41.3%) females. For the HAM/TSP patients, 21 (38.2%) were males and 34 (61.8%) females. Symptoms were higher (p < 0.001) in patients with HAM/TSP (23/55 -41.8%) than in BD (20/419 - 4.8%). KCS was also higher (p
