Interleukin-8 is released from human adipose tissue in response to exercise in vivo

Aim: To investigate the release of Interleukin(IL)-8 from the abdominal, subcutaneous adipose tissue (AT) depots during basal conditions and during sub-maximal exercise [e.g. 60% of maximal oxygen consumption]. TNF- alpha and IL-6 was measured in parallel under basal conditions. Methods: Adipokine r...

Zusammenfassung:Aim: To investigate the release of Interleukin(IL)-8 from the abdominal, subcutaneous adipose tissue (AT) depots during basal conditions and during sub-maximal exercise [e.g. 60% of maximal oxygen consumption]. TNF- alpha and IL-6 was measured in parallel under basal conditions. Methods: Adipokine release from the subcutaneous AT depot was measured by direct Fick technique. An artery and a subcutaneous abdominal vein were catheterised, from which blood simultaneously was extracted. AT blood flow was measured by a super(133)Xe-washout technique. Results: Venous concentrations of IL-8 and IL-6 were 35% (p
