Astrocytic vesicles and gliotransmitters: Slowness of vesicular release and synaptobrevin2-laden vesicle nanoarchitecture

Highlights • Unlike neurons, astrocytic vesicles have one third of synaptobrevin 2 (Sb2) molecules in a vesicle. • The paucity of Sb2 in astrocytes may determine the slow secretory profile. • Distinct mobility of glutamatergic vs. peptidergic vesicles contributes to astrocytic plasticity.
