Old Things, Used Things

Long defends the old and used things against the omnipresent new. However, she does not suggest to refuse new technologies, only that one slows down, consider the source, consider the cost to one's brain, one's capacities, and one's native brilliance. Long adds that one should become fluent speakers in the land of computers. But one should also keep reading books the old way, at least some of the time. One should also keep writing by hand, at least some of the time.
