Damage by Sennius amazonicus, Sennius sp. and Amblycerus sp. (Coleoptera: Bruchidae) in seeds of Sclerolobium sp. (Leguminosae)

Seeds of Sclerolobium sp.(N=1000), collected in two localities of Vicosa, Minas Gerais State, Brazil were damaged by bruchid beetles: Sennius amazonicus, and two undescribed species ofSennius and Amblycerus. Total seed damage was 22.3 plus or minus 1.93% including 3.40 plus or minus 0.97% of damage by Amblycerus sp. Other agents contributed to seed damage including 0.9 plus or minus 0.4% by fungi. Eighty seven mg of Sclerolobium sp. seeds were necessary for development of either S. amazonicus or Sennius sp. which represented 38.32% of one seed of Sclerolobium sp.
