Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:Reviews "Van Gogh at work," by Marije Vellekoop, with contributions by Nienke Bakker, Maite van Dijk, Muriel Geldof, Ella Hendriks, and Birgit Reissland (Yale University Press, 2013) and "Van Gogh's studio practice," edited by Marije Vellekoop, Muriel Geldof, Ella Hendriks, Leo Jansen, and Alberto de Tagle (Yale University Press, 2013). The understanding of Van Gogh's work increases apace as is clearly demonstrated by two authoritative publications produced by the indefatigable team at the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam. "Van Gogh at work," the book of the exhibition, offers a digest of the research findings that "Van Gogh's studio practice" presents in exhaustive detail. Both are the culmination of an extended scientific project, sponsored by Shell and supported by the Netherlands Cultural Heritage Agency, which set out in 2000 to bring together art-historical knowledge and state-of-the-art conservation techniques.
