Zusammenfassung: | It is not clear how the American Society for Neurochemistry (ASN) has gained the reputation as a "myelin club". Certainly, both those within and outside the ASN are aware of this perception. It is true that in the early years after the formation of the Society for Neuroscience, very little myelin work was presented at those meetings, and the main thrust of the reportage of myelin research was concentrated within the ASN. Although a substantial number of research reports on this subject has been presented in the 30 years since the founding of the ASN, it appears to me as a myelin researcher, that the number of myelin-related papers was not excessive compared to that of other fields. |
