Zusammenfassung:We studied the third-order nonlinear optical properties and optical power limiting of Leishman dye in ethanol solution at four different concentrations using a single-beam z-scan technique. The experiments were carried out using continuous wave solid-state laser operating at wavelength 532 nm as an excitation source. The Leishman dye was found to exhibit negative nonlinearity (self-defocusing) and saturable absorption. The nonlinear refractive index ( n 2 ), the nonlinear absorption coefficient ( β ) and the third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility χ (3) of the Leishman dye were determined. These nonlinear parameters were found to vary with the dye concentration. Optical power limiting characteristics were studied for the dye solution at different concentrations. Our results revealed that the Leishman dye was an excellent nonlinear material with large nonlinear response, suggesting that the Leishman dye should be a promising material for applications in photonic devices and optical limiters.
