Production of recombinant Salmonella flagellar protein, FlgK, and its uses in detection of anti-Salmonella antibodies in chickens by automated capillary immunoassay

Conventional immunoblot assays are a useful tool for specific protein identification, but tedious, labor-intensive and time-consuming. A capillary electrophoresis-based immunoblot assay so-called “Simple Western” was developed to enable the protein identification in an automatic manner. This communi...

Zusammenfassung:Conventional immunoblot assays are a useful tool for specific protein identification, but tedious, labor-intensive and time-consuming. A capillary electrophoresis-based immunoblot assay so-called “Simple Western” was developed to enable the protein identification in an automatic manner. This communication describes the use of Simple Western for detecting anti-Salmonella FlgK antibodies from chicken sera. •Production of Salmonella flagellar protein FlgK•Immunization of chickens with the FlgK protein•Use of FlgK antibodies from chicken sera to develop automated capillary immunoassay
