-Dihydroxyethyl aminopropylpolymethylhydrosiloxane (DAPS) a monotelechelic polydimethylsiloxane with a diol-end group, which is used to prepare polyurethane surfactant, was successfully synthesized. The preparation included four steps, which are hydroxyl protection, alkylation, hydrosilylation, and deprotection. Then, a novel silicone-based polyurethane surfactant was prepared by the addition polymerization of isophorone diisocyanate to DAPS, polypropylene glycol, and methanol and was used in the preparation of polystyrene by emulsion polymerization.
