Zusammenfassung: | Now it seems the world is at the threshold of the new atomic age. The author does not know whether or not this is true, but certainty they shall have nuclear engineering in the fields of energy and transportation. He believe professors have a tendency to restrict their teaching to scientific knowledge which has immediate applications. They often forget that almost every new physical or chemical discovery might have engineering application. Teachers underestimate the interest of their students in natural philosophy. stick to classical concepts. He found, while teaching mechanics of continuous media, elasticity, and fluid dynamics, his students listened eagerly as he told them something about atomic structure of the materials and kinetic theory of gases. |
