Zusammenfassung: | When planning this workshop the organisers faced a dilemma. Should the workshop attempt to cover a number of aspects of the disease or should it focus on just one or two areas? It was decided to attempt to cover several topics and accept that probably none of them would be discussed in the depth which they deserve. Four main topics were covered at the workshop: history, status and distribution of ISA; diagnosis of ISA; epizootiology and antigenic and genetic comparison of virus isolates; disease control. Short presentations were given on each of these aspects, and the presentations were followed by discussion. The rapporteurs have made strenuous efforts to record accurately the substance of the presentations and the ensuing discussions. However, it is conceivable that some points may have been lost in transcription and editing. It is hoped that nobody who participated has been misrepresented in the account which follows. |
