Zusammenfassung: | In Turkey the number of non-govermental organizations (NGO) established by school principals and educational administrators has been rapidly increasing in recent years. In this study, the main aim is to examine the professional activities and effectiveness of those NGOs. In this study, the data were obtained through document analysis and semi-structured interview techniques and examined using content analysis method. The research universe was 12 NGOs established in Turkey and operating at national level. In this study, official regulations and annual reports of 8 NGOs were examined and one senior manager and two members of each NGOs were interviewed. Therefore, it is concluded that the effectiveness of the NGOs operating in the area is low; however they are going to have a highly effective potential in coming years.
