Branchial acid-base transfers in the euryhaline oyster toadfish during exposure to dilute sea water

Sea water dilution (to 5% and 1% of sea water) induced a reversible, plasma metabolic acidosis in a euryhaline teleost (the oyster toadfish, Opsanus tau). Net H super(+)transfer between the fish and the water decreased in both low salinity exposure (LSE) groups during the first week of exposure and...

Zusammenfassung:Sea water dilution (to 5% and 1% of sea water) induced a reversible, plasma metabolic acidosis in a euryhaline teleost (the oyster toadfish, Opsanus tau). Net H super(+)transfer between the fish and the water decreased in both low salinity exposure (LSE) groups during the first week of exposure and Delta H super(+)returned to normal after similar to 10 days of 5% LSE, but not during 1% LSE.
