Dose and time dependency of cytochrome P4501A induction in liver and kidney of B(a)P exposed Arctic charr ( Salvelinus alpinus)

The cytochrome P4501A induction was studied in liver and kidney of immature Arctic charr ( Salvelinus alpinus) after exposure to different dosages of benzo(a)pyrene (B(a)P) at low temperatures. Maximum induction was reached at day 5 in both organs, with highest values in the liver. No clear dose-res...

Zusammenfassung:The cytochrome P4501A induction was studied in liver and kidney of immature Arctic charr ( Salvelinus alpinus) after exposure to different dosages of benzo(a)pyrene (B(a)P) at low temperatures. Maximum induction was reached at day 5 in both organs, with highest values in the liver. No clear dose-response could be observed, possibly due to an extremely sensitive P450 system or a limited B(a)P absorption from the gut. The apparent sensitivity of both organs towards B(a)P exposure can be considered as advantageous for biomonitoring.
