Zusammenfassung:Application of stimuli‐responsive materials, particularly based on pH‐sensitive monolayers and thin‐films, to switchable bioelectrocatalysis is briefly overviewed in the paper. The switchable systems are exemplified with amino‐functionalized self‐assembled monolayers, polyelectrolyte brushes and complex biomolecular assemblies organized on electrode surfaces and demonstrating different electrochemical properties depending on pH values. The pH variation was achieved in situ due to biocatalytic reactions, thus coupling switchable bioelectrocatalysis with enzyme‐catalyzed reaction cascades. Future developments leading to complex biomolecular systems with switchable and tunable bioelectronics properties are envisaged as the result of research in this area.
