Breast cancer age at diagnosis patterns in four Latin American Populations: A comparison with North American countries

Highlights • About 20% of breast cancer cases in Latin American registries occur in younger women • Age distribution of cases in Latin America is not only due to a younger population • Average age at diagnosis is 4.7 years lower in Latin American than in USA registries • In Latin America, incidence rates are rapidly increasing in more recently born cohorts • Research needs to be conducted to better prevent and treat this disease in young women
