Possible neural network mediating jaw opening during prey-catching behavior of the frog
Highlights • Trigeminal afferents are in direct contact with jaw opening motoneurons in the frog. • The majority of close contacts are located on the dendrites of facial motoneurons. • Trigeminal input may modulate the rapidly changing activity of jaw opening muscle.
