A modification of the smith-mcintyre grab for simultaneous collection of sediment and bottom water

Simultaneous collections of sediment, bottom water, and benthic organisms are desirable for ecological studies of the sea floor. Benthic organisms are affected by both the sedimentary and the aquatic portions of their environment; therefore, information on all phases is necessary for understanding the interactions of the animals with their surroundings.
