A cascade transformation of the cyclic form of a formylamino derivative of the alicyclic 1,5,9-triketone, 2,6-bis[(2-oxocyclohexyl)methyl)]cyclohexanone

An unexpected cascade transformation of the cyclic form of a formylamino derivative of an alicyclic 1,5,9-triketone into a polycyclic hydroxylactam is described. Proposed intermediates in this conversion are suggested.
