Micro- and mesoclimatology

Recent research on micro- and meso-climatology is reviewed, with a focus on five theme areas-four land surface types (tropical rain forest, urban areas, wetlands, and arid regions) and one source of spatial heterogeneity (coast lines). Within these topic areas, some key research has focused on energy, water, and carbon budgets, function as sinks and sources of gases, capacity for disturbance from human activities, pollution chemistry and dispersion, naturally occurring spatial variation, flows and fluxes, and characteristic features.
