Recognition and Institutionalization of Social Innovations in the Field of Social Policy

Based on several studies on experimentation and social innovation, this article presents an analysis of the processes of trivialization of social innovations through appropriation and institutionalization. Focusing primarily on the field of social policy, two main ideas are put forward. The first is based on the hypothesis of the diversification of forms of protection and social intervention through experimentation and social innovation. The second presents the inevitable trivialization of innovation as a continuous process of appropriation and institutionalization. This dialogical process connects social innovation and institutional innovation by a double movement of recognition and normative regulation. //ABSTRACT IN FRENCH: Prenant appui sur différentes recherches sur l'expérimentation et l'innovation sociale, l'auteur examine, dans cet article, les processus de banalisation des innovations sociales par l'appropriation et l'institutionnalisation. En s'intéressant principalement au champ des politiques sociales, il avance deux idées principales. La première repose sur l'hypothèse de la diversification des formes de protection et d'intervention sociale par l'expérimentation et l'innovation sociale. La seconde idée présente l'inéluctable banalisation de l'innovation comme un processus continu d'appropriation et d'institutionnalisation. Ce processus dialogique articule innovation sociale et innovation institutionnelle par un double mouvement de reconnaissance et de régulation normative.
