A mode parabolic equation method in the case of the resonant mode interaction

A mode parabolic equation method for resonantly interacting modes has been developed. The method ensures acoustic energy flux conservation in accord with multiple scaled analysis accuracy. We carried out testing calculations for the ASA wedge benchmark, that showed excellent agreement with the COUPLE program. •A mode parabolic equation method for resonantly interacted modes was developed.•The flow of acoustic energy is conserved for the derived equations.•The testing calculations proved excellent agreement with COUPLE program.
