Relevance of the Different Game Phases and Set Pieces in F.C. Barcelona's and Real Madrid's Performance During the 2011-12 Professional Football League Season

This present study focuses on the relevance of different game phases and set pieces on FCB's and RMD's performances. The authors use observational methodology to find out the association between the goals scored and the different game phases. To do so, they created an ad-hoc observational instrument and they used two recording instruments. For data analysis and to obtain results, they used proportion comparison analysis, using STATGRAPHICS software and they initially discovered some significant differences between the two teams only in the defensive phase.
