Biometric State: The Global Politics of Identification and Surveillance in South Africa, 1850 to the Present

Since humans made such a botch of it in South Africa, I am open to the possibility that biometrics can do at least as well as wrong-intentioned humans. Having seen what the state and corporate entities can do with computers in this country, in my battles with health care providers, in my dealings with billing agents and utility companies, in my frustrations with various governmental departments, I need greater assurance.
