The Quark Gluon Plasma and relativistic heavy ion collisions in the LHC era

In this talk we briefly review some of the achievements in the study of the QCD matter at high temperature produced in the nuclear collisions at very high energies. We focus on its bulk properties: hydrodynamical and thermodynamical.
