Zusammenfassung: | A color sequential front‐lit (CS‐FL) LCOS optical design, which brings advantages of wide color gamut, high resolution, and high contrast for wearable applications, is presented. On the basis of our recent color filter front‐lit (CF‐FL) LCOS experimental result, which delivers 100 nits/mW (i.e., 17,000 nits at 30 mA driving current of a dual‐chip LED), we demonstrated a new CS‐FL design of 116 nits/mW using RGB LED and converted green phosphor. The color non‐uniformity problem caused by separated individual RGB LED chips was solved by a hollow integrator rod and a sheet of diffuser. Furthermore, together with a mixer light guide (MLG) with grating, spatially averaged RGB light can have a much collimated angular intensity and uniform illuminance distribution to PBS light guide (PBSLG). Besides, the color luminance non‐uniformity (standard deviation of color difference) of this newly designed CS‐FL can reduced 11% compared to that of the original CF‐FL. |
