Zusammenfassung:The Clarence galaxias, a galaxiid fish endemic to the Clarence River catchment, Tasmania, Australia, is critically endangered. Only six breeding populations are known. Introduction of the predatory brown trout has fragmented populations of the Clarence galaxias. Forestry and agricultural activities are lesser threats. The habitat, ecology, reproduction, and distribution of this fish are summarized. Conservation actions taken to date include take restrictions, protection of two large populations through habitat conservation, and preparation of a recovery plan. Further protective recommendations are given.
