Zusammenfassung:The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of strength training on CP and the curvature constant (W', or Anaerobic Work Capacity) of the hyperbolic power-duration relationship using linear and non-linear models. Before and after 8 weeks of whole-body strength training, 14 males (age 20.6 + or - 2.0 years; weight: 78.2 + or - 15.9 kg) performed an incremental exercise test on a cycle ergometer for determination of VO2peak and lactate threshold. In addition, on separate days each subject performed 4 randomly assigned constant-power exercise bouts (P1-P4, lowest to highest) to exhaustion on a cycle ergometer. Significant (p < 0.05) improvements were found for upper and lower body strength (mean increase = 20%), power output at peak lactate (218 to 235 W), and time to exhaustion (TTE) during all 4 constant-power tests (P1: 17.9 to 21.0 min; P2: 9.1 to 13.4 min; P3: 4.4 to 6.1 min; P4: 1.9 to 2.8 min).
