Simultaneous Observation for Oxidative Stress and Muscle Damage with High-Intensity Kendo Training

To examine both oxidative stress and skeletal muscle damage caused by kendo training over a four-day period, we measured the ratio of reduced to oxidized HSA for oxidative stress, and serum concentrations of creatine kinase (CK) and myoglobin (Mb) for skeletal muscle damage. Seventeen male students...

Zusammenfassung:To examine both oxidative stress and skeletal muscle damage caused by kendo training over a four-day period, we measured the ratio of reduced to oxidized HSA for oxidative stress, and serum concentrations of creatine kinase (CK) and myoglobin (Mb) for skeletal muscle damage. Seventeen male students from the National Defense Academy and Gifu University, all elite kendo athletes (20.0 + or - or - 1.0 yrs) participated in this training camp. The four-day kendo training significantly lowered the percentage of reduced HSA from 78.9 + or - or - 2.3% (before) to 73.9 + or - or - 2.6% (after the training, p
