Effects of Oxygenated Water on Aerobic Performance in Division II Collegiate Male Soccer Players
To determine the effects of oxygenated water on aerobic performance in Division II male soccer players. A randomized, double-blind, cross-over design was used to study 12 Division II soccer players (age = 20.1 + or - 1.4 years; mass = 73.3 + or - 10.6 kg; height = 176.0 + or - 6.9 cm) with the faste...

Zusammenfassung: | To determine the effects of oxygenated water on aerobic performance in Division II male soccer players. A randomized, double-blind, cross-over design was used to study 12 Division II soccer players (age = 20.1 + or - 1.4 years; mass = 73.3 + or - 10.6 kg; height = 176.0 + or - 6.9 cm) with the fastest two-mile run times (12:34 + or - 0:19 min:sec) of their team (n = 20). Time to exhaustion, oxygen saturation of hemoglobin (SpO sub(2); via pulse oximetry), heart rate (HR), and expired gases were measured. The SpO sub(2) (95.58 + or - 3.05 vs. 96.08 + or - 2.46%; p = .497), HR (187.00 + or - 8.66 vs. 187.16 + or - 7.73 bpm; p = .942), and VO sub(2) (57.26 + or - 4.93 vs. 58.15 + or - 3.87 ml/kg/min; p = .351) at the highest common workload achieved on both trials were not different between the placebo and oxygenated water conditions, respectively. |
