Choice of the first anti-epileptic drug in elderly patients with newly diagnosed epilepsy: A Finnish retrospective study

Highlights • VPA was the most common AED for the elderly with newly diagnosed epilepsy in Finland. • Reimbursement pattern probably has an impact on the choice of antiepileptic drugs. • Co-morbid conditions are associated with the choice of AEDs for the elderly.
