The efficacy of photodynamic therapy and sodium hypochlorite in root canal disinfection by a single-file instrumentation technique

Highlights • The paper proposed the root canal decontamination through the association of PDT and single-file endodontic treatment. • The antimicrobial action of PDT and different NaOCl concentration was examined. • PDT associated with 5.25% NaOCl was the most effective treatment. • Instrumentation...

Zusammenfassung:Highlights • The paper proposed the root canal decontamination through the association of PDT and single-file endodontic treatment. • The antimicrobial action of PDT and different NaOCl concentration was examined. • PDT associated with 5.25% NaOCl was the most effective treatment. • Instrumentation with saline solution followed by PDT was not able to eliminate all microorganisms completely. • PDT can be useful to improve the root canal disinfection.
